The Hero Hostess Cook up Challenge, and a Recipe

Over on flickr the Hero Hostesses are challenging us to be inspired by something we cook.  So when making Pizza this evening I decided to use it for my inspiration, (see results above). while making the card, all I could, think of was the shape and the colors, but didn't want my card to look like an actual pizza (I came to close to that already) So I combined the two using a few techniques.

Card Details;
I inked up the K5147 scallop backround in punch red(hero hues),  and S5264 antique flower background in peeled paint, then kissed the two stamps together, stamping the scallop on the cream panel. dipped a sponge on my tea dye distress ink and dabbed it randomly  all around the same cream panel, distressing the edges with walnut stain and stamping my sentiment CL497(also in walnut stain). Then adhered it to my red card base.

Pizza Dough Recipe
Ingredients
1 scant cup whole wheat flour
1 cup all all purpose flour
2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast or 1 package quick rising yeast
1/2 teaspoon sugar
3/4 hot water (approximately 115  degrees)
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
coarse cornmeal for sprinkling pan

Preparation

Preheat oven to 500 degrees.

1. in the bowl of the stand mixer combine both flours, yeast, salt, and sugar and whisk together. Combine hot water and oil in a measuring cup. With the mixer running on low speed, gradually pour in the hot liquid till the dough forms a sticky ball. The dough should be quite soft. if it seems dry, add 1 to 2 tablespoons warm water; if too sticky add 1 to 2 tablespoons flour.  Mix on low until the dough forms a ball then increase speed to 2 for just 1 minute.

2.  Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface.  Coat a sheet of plastic wrap with cooking spray and place it sprayed side down on the dough. Let the dough rest for 20 minutes

3. cover a cookie sheet/ pizza pan with olive oil  and dust it lightly with the cornmeal

4. Spread the dough out on your pan,  and add pizza sauce and all your desired toppings. Coook for 10 to 14 minutes and serve immediately.

I usually make pizza with breakfast sausage, or pepperoni, but with pepperoni, I have to leave a part with just cheese for my little sis, as you see in the picture above so I piled all the pepperoni in 2 layers around the edges for the rest of us. LOL not very pretty but it sure tastes good. My Mom found this recipe off the internet a while back.

Thanks For Stopping by, hope you get a chance to try the pizza!
