Last summer during Memorial day weekend, I heard about Operation Write Home (previously known as Cards For Heroes) through Hero Arts, and immediatly wanted to help out, to me this is a Wonderful cause and I am proud to know that I can be apart of that. I conversed and recieved many donations already to enable me to start a card drive in my area, and even raised some money to help send our soldiers cards. The only thing that never went through was finding people to do it with me and a place to gather.
Now I am SO HAPPY to announce that the Archivers in my area has given me a room free with donations and an advertisment in their calender of events! Thanks to the help from my Mom, who got the manager for me 8~). From 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday March 27th I will be holding a card drive for Operation Write Home at Archivers at the Mills in Hazelwood Missouri. We will be making Mothers Day Cards for the soldiers to send back home. Walk-ins are welcome, No Registration Required, and supplies provided (or bring your own if there is that "special" stamp you'd like to use :) Join us if you live in the St Louis area! (HERE is Directions) If you do not....and would like to donate for my card drive; the following would be greatly appreciated:
cardstock, ink pads, embellishments, etc.
Or...
If you would like to send a card for my drive (again the theme is Mothers Day) or send an AnyHero letter, (information on the "AnyHero Letter") email me at hannah.ncole_f@yahoo.com for my snail mail address. Soldiers also love letters of gratitude from kids so feel free to send those too. And most of all your prayers for our soldiers are always the best!
There are some basic rules I have to follow in sending our cards -
1) No glitter (sparkly messes can make our heroes visible at night.
2) Size - The best size that allows the most cards into a box is a 4.25"x5.5", fitting into standard
A2 envelopes (Providing the envelope will help immensly)
3) They usually only have a pencil or bic pen to write with so its important to have a white insert for them to write on if your cardstock is dark.
And for those of you who might be mailing please have the package postmarked by Saturday March 20th.
To learn more about the cause I am serving you can go to http://www.operationwritehome.org/ for more information. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
And Thanks again to those who have already donated, it is Greatly Appreciated!
Thanks for stopping by, I hope some of you can join along!
Take Care,
Hannah
