Pattern Play Homework Day 5

Day 5 was all about paper manipulation, tons of fun! my sister  even wanted to play, and took over my space last night doing it.

the heart was made using several strips of different pattern papers, which I weaved together, using the technique, shown in the class video. Then I adhered them onto a plain piece of cardstock to hold the weaving, while I cut out the heart.

Pattern Play Homework Day 4

Day 4 of class was all about altering the patterned paper, and there are so many endless ways to do that! So for my card here I just toned it down a bit.

I love this paper with all the birds, but it was so bright and I didn't really want focus on the background only, so I took my picket fence distress stain over the whole piece and just lightened it.
I also added faux stitching, I'd love to do the real thing but I don't have a prominent space for my sewing machine.
I die cut 3 small flowers and added gems to their centers, and stamped the sentiment on a strip of white cardstock, cutting the end to make a ribbon like accent, and added stitching to that as well.

Pattern Play HomeWork Day 3

I'm Finally Catching up with my class but I have to post each card seprately, so I can link back to each individual card I post in the class, So here is what I did for day 3!

we were to find a way to make cards/projects with hard to use patterned papers, such as very bold and large designs, and because I'm a chicken I don't really keep those kind of papers in stock, but I did have some rather large patterns to work with so here it is. Nothing special really I just chose 2 papers a large floral and a zigzagggy brown, the floral was double sided so when I cut the strips I just flipped 2 pieces over and adhered them all to my brown card base, after that I selected a large pink ribbon, which I have been avoiding for too long, punched out a little butterfly and dipped it in sticky versa mark ink, to emboss it with gold powder, and I did about 4 times to get a really hard almost metal like embellishment, and I alot of times like to leave the sentiment out so the card can be used for whatever purpose, but since I need to make a bunch of friendship cards I will put the sentiment on the inside.

the only thing in my material list today is the paper basically which is from EK sucess I believe and the line is called Lifes Journey.

Before I go and leave you all to your lovely weekends, I just wanted to let you all know I changed some things on my blog. I made commenting only open to google users, and if I did it right I set it to where I have to allow the comment before it shows up on my blog.
This is all due to lots of spam I have been getting lately, though the comments they leave are often nice, I think it's just a cut and paste to look good, and then they leave a link, which I dodn't want to even try to look at.

Anyway Thanks for Stopping in I will have a couple other posts today for all the cards I got done for class, which I will come back and link to once I get them all up.

Pattern Play Homework

Ok so we are now on day 4 of class and I am way behind and stuck on day 2, so far day 2's instruction really stuck with me, and I'm having alot of fun with it but I need to move on and try the other techniques.
And I am in the process of making a bunch of cards for a ladies luncheon at our church as requested by the pastors wife Miss Marion, with a friendship theme so you are going to see alot of frienship cards from me (that is if I can get them actually posted ; ).

Day 2 of the class was all about stamping on patterned paper and making it look good, and stamping on something that already has a pattern can be pretty tricky, you have to find the right designs that go well together.

So here is my two cards:

                                                  Card 1

The first thing I did here was to choose my elements, my design was already picked out (inspired by Jennifer Mcguire) and I knew I was using the bird (since it was part of Jennifers design) the hardest part was and is picking papers, I finally chose a piece with pink dots, and I couldn't have my card looking exactly like hers so I had to choose a different stamp, it had to be something with lots of coverage but have enough room so you could see the contrast between the paper and the stamp.
So after much thought I went with the horizantal stripes, which I stamped and embossed with clear powder to trap some of original color underneath, then I went over it with spun sugar distress ink.
The hardest part I found was picking another patterned piece to put with it, nothing seemed to go after I altered the paper till I found some green ribbon then I knew exactly which piece to use.

Card 2
This Card was very simple and quick, I chose a subtle hexagon pattern, to stamp and emboss, again embossing with clear powder to trap the original color.
Then I rubbed Squeezed Lemonade distress ink over the entire panel, pulled out some more green ribbon, and die cut some ovals with another pattern and plain white piece which I stamped my sentiment on, and adhered all the pieces together.

A Random catch up post

Oh boy I have done it again! I have been so busy I haven't made the time to post anything.
I haven't had a whole lot of time for crafting either, and as much as I miss doing it so often I feel like I'm getting alot done.
Work has been very busy, which I'm very thankful for, especially being a substitute teacher, you'd think I wouldn't work so much, but where I work everyone seems to just feel like taking a day off, of course I don't mind because that's more on my paycheck : ) which means more craft supplies (hehe).
And here at home we are enjoying the constant weather changes (NOT) here in St Louis you never know what you'll wake up too! some days it's 60 degrees and others it's snowing, I had the sniffles for 3 weeks, and am finally starting to feel better, but hey it's not all that bad that's just a minor complaint on my part.
We are all so Excited Spring is almost here, for me that means mowing lawns, which I find very relaxing as long as it isn't my yard, lol! and Archery one of my favorite outdoor pastimes.

Things are going well over at our DCD Challenge blog, and I'm really having fun being a part of it, though I need to get back on schedule with that. "Note to self: Continue keeping up with the DCD blog as well as own".  If you have never heard of the DCD Challenge blog (Die Cut Diva's) you have to check it out! If you own a die cutting machine this is for you, we have monthly themed challenges with sponsored prizes from your favorite crafting sources.
This blog is open world wide and run by an Aussie, a New Zealander, a Californian, and a Missourian (me), Did I mention it was world wide!
Go Ahead and check it out Here. This months theme is anything green in honor of St Patricks day and spring.
I have also uploaded my first (and more than likely last) YouTube video which you can view here.

And I'm so excited to get started on my Pattern Play Class at www.onlinecardclasses.com which started yesterday, they do cost but they really are worth every penny, because after the class is over you have lifetime access to all the pdf's, video's, and the forums.
I'm always late for signing up so I have to pay a bit more and not get the supplies they use in the class, but this time I did and I think it will make the class even more fun, just look at this nice little
haul!
(Thank you paycheck ; )

Well I guess I have caught you all up on my latest randomness at home at work and at play,
so I guess I'll see you when I see you because there is no telling when I might pop in again to share some more.

Enjoy your day! {)(-_-)(}
